Model United Nations

Model UN is a project in which pupils of all nations can participate via their schools in conferences all over the world, hosted by high-class universities. The students take part in worldwide conferences, which simulate the work and processes of the United Nations. Students experience diplomacy, debate, speech writing and delivery, as well as the ability to reach peaceful resolutions to challenging topics. Students develop their abilities of debating through creating coherent, cohesive plans which take into account the needs and desires of a range of countries. Each delegate must aim to achieve their nation‘s goals, whilst reaching peaceful solutions with others.

A multinational network is created by an exposure to a range of cultures and nationalities. Over the past few years, St. George‘s students have attended conferences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton, New York University (Shanghai campus), Thessaloniki and London and they were invited by the German Ambassador in Athen.
